The Supreme Court represents the highest judicial organ of the USA. It held meetings in the Supreme Court Building in Washington, D.C. One of the most important duties of the justices is to decide about the constitutionality of laws passed by the Congress.
When the Supreme Court was created and the other Federal Courts were established, the Constitution created the judicial power, and the role of this power is to hear and decide the two classes of cases – criminal and civil. All cases about the violation of Federal criminal laws must be heard in a Federal court.
Below the Supreme Court is placed the Courts of Appeals, created in 1891 to facilitate the disposition of cases. Cases decided in the district courts go next to the appeals courts.
