Согласно полученным данным латвийцы считают удаленную работу предпочтительной во время чрезвычайной ситуации. Такую точку зрения высказали 32% рижан, преимущественно из младшей возрастной группы. Предпочтения так же зависели от позиции работодателя и отрасли. Отдельным важным фактором является и забота о детях. В последние годы проблема новых форм трудоустройства, в том числе основанных на применении ИКТ [20], широко обсуждается в Европе и Латвии. Понятия «удаленная работа» и «самозанятость» стали общепринятыми в сфере защиты труда. Согласно недавним исследованиям 37% европейцев работали удаленно во время вызванного эпидемией кризиса. В Латвии на удаленную работу перешли около 40% сотрудников. Удовлетворенность таким режимом во многоопределялась социально-демографическими характеристиками. «Коронакризис» обнаружил значительный и до последнего времени скрытый потенциал гибкой организации труда. Имеющиеся данные связывают удаленную работу с нарушениями сна и травмами, вызванными недостаточной эргономичностью домашнего рабочего места. Также на выполнение привычных заданий работающими удаленно требовалось больше времени, чем обычно. Это объясняется тем, что и дети были вынуждены оставаться дома [21].
Наконец, было обнаружено, что самой большой проблемой является организация личного и рабочего временим. Наиболее остро она встала перед родителями школьников и людьми, проживающими отдельно. Кроме того, значительным рискам оказались подвержены старшие группы населения.
