The paper deals with writing a story as the important form of development of Russian coherent speech in pupils of initial classes. It examines a correlation of oral and written coherent speech, kinds of stories (complete, selective, with the additional task, creative), a technique of training for writing a story and specificity of work on different kinds of stories.
