The article touches upon the concept of «language policy» elaborated for a specific geographical area. It analyzes the main purposes of the language policy which is an essential component of political line of any country to develop a strong united state. Special attention is paid to the concept of «multilingualism» which is considered the most important to understand the purposes of the language policy of the region. It should be noted that multilingualismis a characteristic feature of the EU helping to solve many conflicts and form the united society with common objectives and values.
