Social policy is one of the most important policies implemented at the Federal, regional and municipal levels. At each level, tasks are performed and the corresponding functions are implemented. Of great interest is the study of social policy by municipalities. The article assesses the role of local governments in the implementation of social policy in the main directions of its implementation on the example of a particular municipality. The division of powers between different levels of power in the field of social policy is shown. The task of local self - government bodies is the direct provision of a range of social services that ensure the living conditions of a person and its reproduction-social support for large children, the organization of guardianship and guardianship of minors, the provision of benefits to certain categories of citizens for services and services in municipal institutions of the social sphere. It is necessary to take into account the specifics of the local population and the type of municipal economy in the development and implementation of measures in the field of municipal social policy. As a result of the study identified problems arising in the implementation of municipal policy (incomplete information, conditions inappropriate for people with disabilities, insufficient number of schools, medical professionals, etc.), and proposed recommendations for their elimination.
